My favorite genres are:
Metal - Gothic Metal, Grindcore, post-hardcore [Rage against the machine, OTEP, Disturbed, Agonist...]
Rock, alternative [Tracktor Bowling, Black Stones...]
DNB - Darkstep, Clownstep....
Trance O: [Admin van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk]
Techno, Hardstyle, Schranz [Showtek, Donkey Rollers...]

JPop and JRock. I hate classical and Jazz (no offense to anyone).
Favorite bands/artists: Janne da Arc, Kotoko, Mami Kawada, Crush40 (wait that one's english...)

I really only listen to songs I hear in anime and games but those of some bands that play alot of my favorites.

Yeah, I too do not like jazz...

My main genre is old school metal, none of that new crap. Guns n Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden.

I also like old school rock like Queen, Billy Idol, Steelheart, Whitedragon

Then there is classical but only while I'm studying, makes me less stressed.

Really? All the exposure I've had to Pop and Rock must have changed me. Classical music actually makes me more stressed! XD To each their own, I guess!

Classical music is supposed to be relaxing lol. Aside from studying I wouldn't normally listen to it, but I can't study in absolute silence I'd get bored out of my brain.

When I mean classical I mean songs like Fur Elise or beethoven 9th symphony, nothing with lyrics that would just be distracting lol.

Yeah classical music or even jazzy helps relaxing, I can't focus either when it's quiet to the point you hear a clock ticking and people coughin'

My very favorite style is trip hop! Portishead, Radiohead, Zero 7, Tricky, and mooore..
I love dance music and melodic trance too! Old school rock and metal (though I have less appreciation for our dear newage metal)
At times I can go way back to random pop oldies, french pop even (i'm actually french canadian teehee, that's why my english sentences can be confusing at times bwahh..).

I really can drive myself in any style (i'm deep into the music world) depending of my mood, I'll rarely dislike one genre except if I happen to listen to that one artist that turn me off. xD

Maybe you guys would like Ambient, or Intelligent DNB... Ambient especially is beautiful and relaxing

I just listen to normal (well, normal for me anyway) music when I study or do homework. I especially like active cheery songs to liven the mood. Might explain why I have a C in Calculus...

i like paramore, a static lulllaby, slipknot, stratovarius, some j-pop, rise against, in flames, kill switch engage, BMTH and BFMV

I also love DNB and they're 10mins ambiant music. It helps you drive your imagination into some kind of fantasy world, at least that's the effect it has on me.

Yesterday I was at concert of sort of famous band here in Czech republicc - heavy metal band - and there were some bands playing before them, one of them I know for about a year. What I want to talk about is, the style of the band is interesting, they are playing rock-metal and the singer - She doesn't scream, she doesn't grind, it's like grind and scream combined.. It's sort of unique, it has very strong energy and I'm like D: Everytime I see them.

I kind of listen though mood more then type of music. Currently I have Sum 41, Underclass Hero album going on. ^^;

Oh and btw, I LOVE classical. Its usually what is playing when you enter my house. X3 I just wish I knew how to dance to it other then the basic waltz.
